Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about converting Excel spreadsheets to web applications. Can't find your answer? Contact us — we respond within 24 hours.

Process

We can convert virtually any Excel file — from simple single-sheet calculators to complex multi-sheet workbooks with advanced formulas, VBA macros, pivot tables, conditional formatting, and data validation. We support .xlsx, .xls, .xlsm (macro-enabled), and Google Sheets. Common conversions include financial calculators, pricing tools, scoring systems, engineering calculators, data trackers, and business process workflows. If it works in Excel, we can make it work on the web.

Most projects are completed in 2-4 weeks. Simple calculators with under 20 formulas and a single sheet typically take 1-2 weeks. Mid-complexity tools with multiple sheets, conditional logic, and 20-100 formulas take 2-3 weeks. Complex workbooks with VBA macros, 100+ formulas, database requirements, or multi-user needs can take 3-6 weeks. You'll receive a precise timeline with your free quote within 24 hours of submitting your file.

Our process has four stages: (1) You share your Excel file and we analyze every formula, macro, and workflow within 24 hours, delivering a detailed quote. (2) Once approved, we build the web application, recreating every formula in JavaScript and building a responsive, modern interface. (3) We test every calculation against your original Excel file using your own data to ensure identical results. (4) We deliver the source code, help with deployment, and provide a revision period for adjustments.

Simply send us your Excel file through our contact form on the homepage, via email at hello@exceltoweb.app, or through our Fiverr gig. Include a brief description of how the spreadsheet is used and any specific requirements for the web application. We'll respond within 24 hours with a detailed, no-obligation quote.

Pricing

Pricing depends on the complexity of your spreadsheet. Simple calculators (single sheet, under 20 formulas) typically range from $500-$1,500. Mid-complexity tools (multiple sheets, 20-100 formulas, conditional logic) range from $1,500-$3,000. Enterprise-grade applications (VBA macros, 100+ formulas, database integration, multi-user support) range from $3,000-$5,000+. Every quote is custom-tailored to your specific file — send it to us for a free, no-obligation estimate.

No hidden fees. The price you're quoted is the price you pay. Unlike low-code platforms that charge monthly subscriptions ($50-200/month per user), our pricing is a one-time project fee. You own the source code outright — no licensing fees, no platform lock-in. The only ongoing cost would be web hosting, which typically runs $5-20/month for basic applications.

Yes. For most projects, we work with a simple two-payment structure: a deposit before development begins and the balance upon delivery. For larger projects, we can arrange milestone-based payments. Payment terms are always agreed upon before any work begins, and we offer refunds for work that doesn't meet the agreed specifications.

Technical

Yes — VBA conversion is one of our core specialties. We analyze your VBA code line by line and rewrite the logic in JavaScript. Whether your macros perform calculations, manipulate data, generate reports, or automate workflows, we recreate the same functionality in the browser. The resulting web application performs identically to your Excel macros without requiring any desktop software, plugins, or ActiveX controls.

Every formula is meticulously recreated in JavaScript. This includes simple functions (SUM, AVERAGE, COUNT), lookup functions (VLOOKUP, INDEX-MATCH, HLOOKUP), logical functions (IF, IFERROR, AND, OR), nested formulas, array formulas, and cross-sheet references. Before delivery, we run side-by-side comparisons using your own data to verify that every formula produces identical results in the web app.

We use modern, production-ready technologies: HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript (vanilla or React/Vue depending on complexity) for the frontend. When a backend is needed, we use PHP (Laravel) or Node.js. For WordPress plugins, we follow standard WordPress plugin architecture with shortcode support. All code is clean, well-documented, and follows industry best practices.

Absolutely. We specialize in converting Excel tools into WordPress plugins with shortcode support, so you can embed your calculator or tool on any WordPress page using a simple shortcode like [my-calculator]. The plugin integrates seamlessly with your existing WordPress theme, is fully responsive, and follows WordPress coding standards. We can also build the plugin to work with popular page builders like Elementor and Divi.

Yes — multi-sheet workbooks are one of our specialties. We've converted workbooks with 10+ interconnected sheets, cross-sheet references, named ranges, and complex data validation rules into unified web applications with intuitive multi-step interfaces. The web app maintains all the data relationships between sheets while presenting a much cleaner, easier-to-use interface.

Yes. Unlike Excel, which struggles with concurrent users and creates version conflicts, a web application is designed for multi-user access from the ground up. We can add user authentication (login system), role-based permissions (admin vs. user vs. viewer), individual data storage so each user gets their own saved calculations, and real-time collaboration features if needed.

Support & Delivery

Not necessarily. We deliver your application as source code that you can host anywhere — your own server, shared hosting ($5-20/month), cloud platforms like AWS or DigitalOcean, or free-tier services like Netlify or Vercel for simpler applications. For WordPress plugins, the plugin runs on your existing WordPress hosting. We can help you set up hosting, recommend the best option for your needs, and handle the initial deployment.

Every project includes a revision period (typically 7-14 days) after delivery where we make adjustments to ensure the application matches your requirements exactly. After that, you own the source code completely — you or any developer can modify it. We also offer ongoing maintenance packages and are always available for one-off change requests at fair hourly rates.

We take data security very seriously. All file transfers use SSL/TLS encryption. We're happy to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA) before you share any files. Your data is only accessed by the single developer assigned to your project — we never outsource or share files with third parties. All project files are permanently deleted within 90 days of delivery.

We can help you deploy your application to your preferred hosting provider or recommend affordable hosting solutions based on your application's needs. For simple front-end applications, free hosting options like Netlify work great. For applications requiring a backend or database, we typically recommend shared hosting ($5-20/month) or cloud solutions. We handle the initial deployment for you.
